Kampala, Uganda: Uganda Premier League Champions, Vipers SC, Saturday clinched the 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup to seal a historic domestic double thanks to a commanding 2-0 victory over KCCA FC in the final played at the newly opened FUFA Stadium in Kadiba.

Goals from defender Livingstone Mulondo and striker Yunus Sentamu secured the win for the Venoms, who added the Uganda Cup to their 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.

Mulondo opened the scoring in the 5th minute, rising highest to nod in a well-delivered corner from Allan Okello. Despite a spirited response from KCCA, including a thunderous effort from Ashraf Mugume that rattled the crossbar early in the second half, the Venoms remained in control.

Sentamu doubled the lead in the 55th minute, finishing with precision after a slick team move that carved open the KCCA backline.

KCCA interim coach Jackson Magera introduced experienced names like Julius Poloto and Derrick Nsibambi in a bid to revive his side’s chances, but Vipers’ disciplined defence, marshalled by captain Milton Karisa, held firm.

Goalkeeper Derrick Kiggundu delivered a standout performance, pulling off crucial saves, including a late free-kick from Poloto and efforts from Usama Arafat and Emmanuel Anyama.

Vipers’ head coach Fred Muhumuza showed tactical maturity, introducing Moses Waiswa and Gusto Mulongo to maintain midfield control and close out the game in the final stages.

The win marks Vipers SC’s fourth Uganda Cup triumph, while KCCA FC, who were hoping to claim a record-extending 11th title, were left frustrated, with tempers flaring among their supporters toward the end of the match.

KCCA entered the final in strong form, having scored 14 goals and conceded just three throughout the tournament. But Vipers, who had only conceded once en route to the final, proved resolute once again on the big stage.

The clash also served as a rematch of the 2018 final, where KCCA beat Vipers 1-0. This time, the Venoms earned their revenge, lifting the trophy with a confident and clinical display on Kadiba’s unfamiliar turf.
