Kampala, Uganda: Former Presidential Advisor Counsel Nicholas Muhereza Ndyakira Monday officially picked nomination forms from the NRM party headquarters, confirming his bid to unseat MP Derrick Kabuura Baimukye and represent Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality in Parliament come 2026.
Ndyakira, a prominent legal advisor and petroleum law lecturer, said his decision to join the race is grounded in a desire to offer transformative leadership built on practical service delivery, transparency, and economic empowerment.
“I am not just running for office, I am answering a call to serve. Together, we can unlock the immense potential of Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality and build a prosperous future for all,” he said shortly after receiving the forms at the NRM headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Kampala.
Ndyakira’s declaration follows months of consultations and growing grassroots mobilization, especially among the youth and professionals who view him as a credible alternative to the incumbent. He previously served as a Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and currently teaches Petroleum Law at Uganda Christian University.

Ndyakira also chairs BFM Radio Bushenyi and runs the Ndyakira Foundation, which supports youth entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and skills development programs in the municipality.
“I am offering a five-point agenda focused on economic revitalization, quality education, accessible health care, better roads, and a leadership culture rooted in truth and accountability. Bushenyi deserves better,” he added.
Ndyakira also said he intends to run a campaign rooted in civility, policy, and public accountability. “Bushenyi needs someone who listens, understands the law, and has the humility to serve. My focus is transformational leadership—not transactional politics,” he added.
A bonus to Counsel Ndyakira’s election bid is the trendy song, Kinawolovu, which has become a household name for his political moves because of his direct touch with the locals. The phrase, which doubles as his official campaign theme song, has struck a deep chord among youth and voters dancing to its vibes every time he steps a foot in the constituency.
Counsel Ndyakira, DailyExpress understands, is expected to meet the artiste behind the popular track in the coming weeks to formalize a partnership as part of his 2026 campaign strategy.
Ndyakira’s entry is expected to shape the Bushenyi-Ishaka race into a high-stakes contest within the NRM primaries and the national vote. He will be challenging incumbent Hon. Derrick Kabuura Baimukye, who has represented the constituency since 2021, alongside other candidates.
