The demonstration targets Ambassador Matthias Schauer, whom PLU accuses of “undiplomatic conduct.” The event was earlier postponed following the death of PLU Central Committee member Cedric Ndilima.

Kampala, Uganda: The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a pro-Muhoozi political civil group, has announced Friday, June 13, 2025, as the new date for its postponed protest against the German Ambassador to Uganda, Matthias Schauer.

PLU Secretary General David Kabanda confirmed the development in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) Monday afternoon, urging supporters to rally outside the German Embassy in Kampala at exactly 10:00 am.

“To all our Patriotic supporters, the intended Demonstration against the German Ambassador, which was postponed due to the loss of our comrade and CC Member Cedric Ndilima, will take place on Friday, 13th June, 2025, at 10 am at the Germany Embassy,” Kabanda stated.

The protest, initially set for June 5, was deferred to allow members time to mourn Ndilima, a senior figure in the group’s Central Committee.

PLU’s decision to stage the protest stems from mounting tensions between Ugandan authorities and foreign missions, particularly accusations by security agencies that Ambassador Schauer has engaged in “subversive and undiplomatic activities.” The German Embassy has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.

The protest announcement came in the wake of a recent visit by European Union parliamentarians to opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, a move that PLU has openly condemned as foreign meddling.

PLU, which is ideologically aligned with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s political ambitions, has in recent months organized protests at Parliament and the Kenyan High Commission, accusing external actors of interfering in Uganda’s domestic affairs and undermining national sovereignty.

The upcoming demonstration is expected to draw large crowds of supporters under the PLU banner, with calls for the expulsion or censure of Ambassador Schauer growing louder on pro-Muhoozi social media platforms.
