Iganga, Uganda: Busoga Princess and Renowned Political Mobilizer, Ms Kyanika Rehema, has officially picked nomination forms confirming her interest to contest for the position of National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League in the upcoming party’s Central Executive Committee elections.
Rehema, a respected mobiliser and advocate for women’s economic transformation, stormed the NRM Headquarters at Kyadondo in Kampala on Friday, June 27, to pick her forms, declaring that her candidature is rooted in a desire to inspire greater participation of women at all levels of national development.
The CEC Aspirant, who is also the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Regional Coordinator for Busoga Subregion, pledged to champion inclusiveness, empowerment, and results-driven leadership among Ugandan women.
“This journey is not about me alone, it is about all of us,” Rehema said in a statement issued shortly after completing the nomination process. “It is about raising our voices, expanding our participation, and strengthening our role in shaping Uganda’s future. When women lead, communities thrive.”

Rehema expressed gratitude to the NRM leadership for upholding democracy and providing platforms where women can rise to positions of influence.
The Busoga Princess has built a profile as a bridge-builder between grassroots communities and national leadership. Her campaign team said she will prioritise mentorship programmes for young women, strengthening economic opportunities, and amplifying women’s contributions to policy-making.
“I take this step with humility and responsibility under the visionary guidance of our great party. Let us walk together, build together, and rise together,” she added.
Rehema’s declaration comes at a time when the NRM is rolling out nationwide internal elections to choose new leaders across its various structures, including the Women’s League, the Youth League, and the CEC.

She enters the race for NRM Women’s League top job, where she is expected to battle it out with incumbent Lydia Wanyoto, who has faced internal criticism over inactive grassroots structures for the women; National Women Council Chairperson Faridah Kibowa; and city businesswoman Adrine Kobusingye.
The July 2025 Delegates Conference is expected to decide not just the leadership of the Women’s League, but also signal the Movement’s direction ahead of the 2026 General Elections. Many believe Rehema’s rise represents a generational shift anchored in service and accountability.
