Buyela vows fresh leadership for Eastern Uganda after CEC Nomination

Buyela Christopher reacts after submitting his NRM nomination forms at Kyadondo, pledging to deliver transformative leadership for Eastern Uganda’s youth and communities.

Kampala, Uganda: Buyela Christopher has officially returned his nomination forms to contest the position of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, pledging transformative leadership anchored in equity and youth empowerment.

Flanked by a spirited delegation of supporters from across Uganda, Buyela submitted his forms on Tuesday, July 01, at the NRM Secretariat, signaling the start of an ambitious nationwide campaign.

“Eastern Uganda is not a dumping ground for faded politicians. This is not a tribal position — it is a leadership role meant to serve a region rich in potential, history, and strength,” he declared.

Buyela emphasized that his candidacy represents a departure from recycled politics and promised to advocate for inclusive development that prioritizes the aspirations of the region’s youth majority.

“We are not here to recycle politics; we are here to reclaim the dignity of Eastern Uganda within the NRM and the broader national agenda. The youth are the majority, and it is time they take center stage in shaping the future of our party and country,” he said.

Buyela also revealed plans to embark on an extensive campaign trail across the country to engage delegates, mobilize support, and share his vision for a more accountable and responsive NRM leadership.

“This is a campaign of purpose. We are building a movement that prioritizes equity, fairness, and grassroots empowerment. Eastern Uganda has waited long enough — now is the time for vibrant, visionary, and committed leadership,” he added.

Buyela’s declaration is an indication of growing calls within the ruling party for leadership renewal and more robust representation for historically underrepresented regions at the ruling party’s top decision making organ.
