Kampala, Uganda: Speke Resort Munyonyo, Uganda’s premier five-star hospitality destination, has successfully concluded its final quarterly leadership training for senior staff, marking another milestone in its commitment to operational excellence and talent development.

The event, held in the resort’s state-of-the-art conference facilities, convened a diverse group of managers, chefs, and departmental heads for an intensive program designed to strengthen leadership capabilities, refine operational strategies, and drive high-performance culture across the organization.

A 2021 study published in the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research underscores the importance of such initiatives, showing that leadership training can improve team performance by up to 18% in comparable settings.

The session featured interactive workshops and keynote presentations, with a highlight address by a guest speaker who shared insights into innovative leadership techniques tailored to the evolving demands of the hospitality industry.

The training’s timing is particularly notable, aligning with Uganda’s post-Census 2024 preparations. Speke Resort previously hosted capacity-building programs for national census personnel, underscoring its growing role as a hub for professional development and skill-building initiatives.

Notably, the inclusion of chefs alongside administrative and managerial staff reflects a holistic approach to training. This strategy is supported by Les Roches’ research (2024), which found that integrated cross-functional training can increase operational efficiency by 15%.

Participants praised the training for its practical value and collaborative spirit. “This session has equipped us with new tools to lead our teams effectively,” said one senior staff who attended the workshop.

Building on this success, the resort plans to expand its training portfolio, leveraging advanced technology and industry best practices to elevate guest experiences and maintain its leadership position in Uganda’s tourism sector.

Speke Resort Munyonyo continues to set the standard for hospitality excellence, reinforcing its commitment to staff development and the growth of Uganda’s vibrant tourism industry.
