Namisindwa, Uganda: Aspirants for the Namisindwa District Local Council V (LCV) seat have agreed on a harmonised joint campaign programme, set to run from Monday, 7th July, to 21st July 2025. This arrangement, backed by the District Executive Committee (DEC), is designed to ensure orderly, transparent campaigns ahead of the NRM primaries scheduled for 24th July 2025.

According to the agreed schedule, campaigns will kick off on Monday in Bukokho and Bumbo sub-counties, with open rallies planned at Kaboole Primary School and Bukokho Sub-county Headquarters. On Tuesday, candidates will continue in Bumbo and Mukhuyu sub-counties, while Thursday will see rallies in Namboko, Namitsa, and Nabitsikhi in the Bubutu region.

NRM District Chairperson Aramazan Wabuko emphasized that the joint rallies are mandatory for all aspirants unless explicitly exempted by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission. He appealed for issue-based campaigns devoid of personal attacks or violence.

However, Alex Molokoyi, the personal assistant to incumbent Wakweika Jackson, informed the meeting that their camp would not participate in the joint programme, citing unspecified security concerns.

This decision was rejected by the DEC, which maintained that any candidate seeking separate arrangements must secure clearance from the Electoral Commission.

Candidate Bwayo Emma condemned the incumbent’s decision to withdraw, arguing that joint rallies foster transparency and accountability. “Incumbents must be willing to explain their record and convince voters why they deserve another term,” Bwayo said.

The hotly contested race has attracted four candidates: Wataka Simiyu Patrick, Situma Maango, Bwayo Emma, and the incumbent, Wakweika Jackson.

The aspirants for other positions within the district have pledged to abide by the harmonised campaign schedule.
