Kamuli, Uganda: The Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, has rallied Busoga communities to unite in the fight against early marriages and teenage pregnancies, warning that these vices are among the leading causes of school dropouts across the kingdom.

The Kyabazinga was speaking on Saturday at Kamuli Progressive College, where he presided over celebrations marking 30 years of the school’s existence.

Addressing hundreds of students, parents, and education stakeholders, His Highness hailed the institution’s founders and management for their steadfast commitment to transforming the lives of young people through education.

“Through your craftsmanship, hard work, self-zeal and teamwork, this institution has embraced a holistic approach to learning. Your efforts are helping learners yearn for success,” the Kyabazinga remarked.

He specifically commended Mr. Ntende Johnson, the school’s director, for his sacrifice and persistence over three decades. “I thank you for prioritising education as one of the keys to success,” he added.

Turning to the students, the Kyabazinga urged them to stay focused and resist destructive temptations that derail their dreams.

“I therefore urge you to stay focused and resist vices such as early marriages and teenage pregnancies, which are some of the major causes of school dropouts,” he emphasised.

He further appealed to parents and guardians to maintain their commitment to supporting education, while recognising teachers for nurturing a generation of responsible citizens.

Mrs. Akirabaine Norah from Kamuli Municipality Education Office urged parents to play their part by ensuring students remain in school, highlighting the importance of feeding and paying school requirements on time.
