Pallisa, Uganda: The Democratic Party’s national spokesperson, Mr. Okoler Opio Lo Amanu, has declared he will contest for Member of Parliament for Pallisa County in the 2026 general elections, promising to champion practical service delivery over empty rhetoric.

Speaking candidly in an exclusive interview with DailyExpress, Okoler said he is confident that, come February 2026, his title will officially change to Honourable, as voters are ready for what he termed “result-oriented leadership.”

“Pallisa County needs a result-oriented leader who is down to earth with his people, sorting out the most pressing issues, not theoretical promises,” Okoler stated. “I have my slogan all the constituents have mastered—work and talk, not talking and promising work.”

He dismissed concerns over the internal contests within the ruling NRM party, describing the struggle there as “simply for the flag,” and reaffirmed that his candidacy is driven by a commitment to end what he called “constitutional abuse through leadership negligence.”

Okoler pointed to his record of community contributions over the past three years, including the procurement of 5,000 chairs, 15 tents each seating 100 people, two trucks, and an emergency standby vehicle that locals regularly use for burials and social functions.

“I woke up most politicians in this district to focus on service delivery. With my 5,000 chairs, I make a daily community saving of Shs1.5 million because these chairs don’t stay in the store—they are always in use,” he added.
