Ignoring ONC and Hajjat’s Effort at Kololo Weakens NRM’s Unity, Warns Youth Cadre

ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has been at the forefront of youth empowerment and mobilization under the NRM banner.

Busoga, Uganda: A Busoga-based youth political analyst, has fined at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership for sidelining the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and its head, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, during Tuesday’s nomination rally at Kololo for President Museveni as the party’s 2026 flag bearer.

Mwesigwa Jonathan, a Social Sciences graduate from Kyambogo University, in an open letter dated September 24 addressed said the deliberate omission of ONC’s recognition was not a mistake but a calculated act that risks undermining party unity. He noted that while several groups and offices were acknowledged, the ONC, which has played a central role in mobilizing the youth and popularizing the slogans “Jajja Tova Ku Main” and “Jajja Omalako,” was conspicuously ignored.

“Before Hajjat Namyalo came in as Manager of ONC, that office was largely silent. With her leadership, it has become vibrant—mobilizing youth, spearheading empowerment programs, and restoring hope for many underprivileged Ugandans,” Mwesigwa observed.

He further argued that Hajjat Namyalo’s empowerment drives have enabled thousands of young Ugandans to start small businesses and sustain livelihoods in support of President Museveni’s vision, efforts which he said deserve acknowledgment at national party functions.

“It is painful to see Hajjat and her office disregarded while other groups, especially PLU, are openly recognized. To many of us, those groups are more concerned with survival politics than the real struggle of consolidating NRM’s support,” he added.

Mwesigwa warned that continued sidelining of the ONC risks breeding internal divisions that could weaken the cohesion and future of the ruling party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
