Kamuli, Uganda: The Kamuli District UNEB Supervisor and Headteacher of Busoga High School, Ms Oliver Nambi, has cautioned schools against denying registered candidates the opportunity to sit for their final exams over unpaid school fees, urging administrators to explore mutual arrangements with parents to clear outstanding dues.
Speaking during a joint candidates’ briefing, Ms Nambi said schools should prioritize students’ right to sit their UNEB examinations and handle financial issues separately. “We know many parents are struggling to raise school fees, but don’t deny candidates a chance to sit. The better option is to write to UNEB to block results or talk to parents to pay in installments,” she advised.
Ms Nambi further warned schools and candidates against being lured into buying commercial fake examinations circulating ahead of the national exams, noting that such materials mislead learners from competence-based preparations required by UNEB.
Kyabazinga College headteacher Mr Hussein Wanume, in his remarks, urged candidates to uphold discipline, focus on revision, and adhere strictly to examination rules and regulations.
“You have been prepared for four years, don’t ruin your future or betray your parents’ sacrifices by engaging in malpractice or reckless behaviour after exams. Remain educated, cultured, and relevant,” Wanume cautioned.
The district authorities reiterated that all registered candidates have the right to sit for UNEB exams and encouraged schools to engage parents in finding amicable solutions rather than penalizing learners.
