Kibuku, Uganda: Police have launched an investigation into circumstances under which the decomposed body of an unidentified male juvenile, estimated to be in his teen years, was discovered in a pond in Bukaduka Village, Kibuku District, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Dressed in green and maroon T-shirts, the body was recovered from a pond owned by 73-year-old Engineer William Kobere of Bungole Village, Bungole Parish, Buseta Subcounty.

Kobere, police say, alerted authorities at around 4:00 p.m., reporting that the remains showed signs of advanced decomposition, raising concerns that the boy may have been killed.

Police, including the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), responded immediately, documenting the scene, photographing evidence, and taking statements from witnesses. The body was retrieved and taken to Mbale City Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is ongoing to determine the exact cause of death. The case has been registered under SD Reference 34/08/10/2025.

ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, Bukedi North Public Relations Officer, said, “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death as a possible homicide. Anyone with information about the boy or events leading to his death should come forward immediately.”

The Kibuku Police Station has appealed to the public to report any missing juvenile matching the description to aid the ongoing investigation.
