Bukedea, Uganda: Thousands of residents from districts of eastern and northern Uganda are expected to benefit from a three-day free eye health camp organised by the Ruparelia Foundation in Bukedea District.
The outreach, scheduled for March 27–29, 2026 at Bukedea Teaching Hospital, is being held in honour of the late Ugandan businessman and philanthropist Rajiv Ruparelia.
Organisers say the camp will provide a range of free specialised eye care services, including; eye check-ups, cataract screenings, reading glasses, children’s glasses and cataract surgeries for selected patients.
The medical outreach, DailyExpress understands, is being conducted in partnership with Mulago National Referral Hospital and C-Care, bringing together specialist doctors and medical teams to offer treatment to hundreds of patients.
Health officials say the initiative aims to increase access to eye care services and help address preventable blindness in communities with limited access to specialised treatment.

According to organisers, the camp is open to both adults and children, with residents from Bukedea, Soroti, Mbale, Gulu, Lira, Tororo and Kapchorwa invited to attend, with large numbers of patients expected to turn up for screening and treatment during the three-day outreach.

Honouring Rajiv Ruparelia’s Legacy
Ruparelia Foundation says the initiative to extend the free medical service to Ugandans reflects the values of service, compassion and community development championed by the late Rajiv Ruparelia during his lifetime.
Rajiv, son of Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, was widely known for his passion for motorsport, youth empowerment and philanthropic initiatives carried out through the Ruparelia Foundation.
He passed away in May 2025, leaving behind a legacy of community-focused projects aimed at improving lives across Uganda. The Bukedea eye camp forms part of ongoing efforts to extend his legacy through initiatives that directly impact communities.
