Kampala, Uganda: Victoria University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Lawrence Muganga Wednesday joined thousands of Ugandans in celebrating First Lady and Education Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni on her 78th birthday, describing her as a “mother to the nation” whose love and leadership continue to shape Uganda.

In a heartfelt birthday message shared on his official X platform, Dr Muganga praised the First Lady for her unwavering faith, compassion, and dedication to national service, while offering prayers for her continued health, strength, and wisdom.

“Happy Birthday, Maama Janet Museveni, a mother to our nation, a vessel of grace, and a steady light whose love continues to shape the soul of Uganda,” Muganga wrote.

The renowned educationist said Janet Museveni’s life has been defined by service and nurturing leadership, qualities he said have inspired many Ugandans across generations.

Muganga prayed that God would continue to strengthen the First Lady and bless her with renewed energy as she continues serving the country.

“On this special day, my prayer is that the Lord, the Author of every good gift, wraps you in His unfailing love, refreshes your spirit, and crowns this new year with hope that does not disappoint, grace that overflows, and a mother’s heart that continues to nurture our nation,” he stated.

Quoting several biblical scriptures, including Isaiah 40:31, James 1:5, Psalm 5:12 and Psalm 91:16, Muganga prayed for divine wisdom, protection, long life and continued favour upon the First Lady.

“May He bless you with radiant health, quiet courage, and renewed strength, for as it is written in Isaiah 40:31, ‘Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles,'” he added.

The message comes as leaders from across Uganda continue to pay tribute to Janet Museveni, who marked her 78th birthday on June 24.

As First Lady since 1986 and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni has played a prominent role in Uganda’s social development, education sector reforms, faith-based initiatives and advocacy for vulnerable communities.

Muganga concluded his message by wishing her continued joy, peace and God’s guidance in the years ahead. “Happy Birthday, Maama. May heaven smile upon you today, tomorrow, and always.”
