According to preliminary police findings, Aggrey was sleeping with his brother, Mugwere Morgan, on the night of July 13, 2026, when unidentified people arrived at their home at about 9:00 p.m. and called him outside.

Budaka, Uganda: Police in Budaka District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 21-year-old man whose body was discovered along a footpath in Bugema Cell, Naboa Town Council, hours after he was reportedly called out of his home by unidentified individuals.

The deceased has been identified as Mugwere Aggrey, a resident of Bugema Cell.

According to preliminary police findings, Aggrey was sleeping with his brother, Mugwere Morgan, on the night of July 13, 2026, when unidentified people arrived at their home at about 9:00 p.m. and called him outside.

Aggrey reportedly responded to the call and left the house but never returned, prompting concern among family members.

His lifeless body was discovered the following morning, July 14, at around 6:30 a.m., lying along a footpath approximately 300 metres from his home.

The discovery was reported to police by Mugole Godfrey, the LC I Chairperson of Bugema Cell.

Detectives from the Bukedi North Regional Police, led by Detective Assistant Inspector of Police (D/AIP) Watsala Willy, responded to the scene alongside homicide detectives, Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and a police canine unit.

The crime scene was processed and documented before investigators deployed a sniffer dog to assist in tracing possible suspects.

Police said the canine reportedly tracked a scent leading investigators to the home of Mugole Kenneth, who was not found during the search.

Authorities have since recorded statements from several witnesses as investigations continue.

The deceased’s body was transported to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

According to the Police Form 48B (PF48B), the preliminary medical report indicated that Aggrey died from aspiration pneumonia. However, police have not ruled out foul play and say investigations are continuing to establish the events leading to his death and determine whether the medical findings are connected to the circumstances under which his body was discovered.

Commenting on the case, Bukedi North Regional Police spokesperson ASP Wilfred Kyempasa said detectives are pursuing all available leads.

“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Aggrey’s death are ongoing,” Kyempasa said.

Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible.
