Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027 has invited Ugandan businesses to register for supplier pre-qualification ahead of the continent’s biggest football tournament.
The call was made during a media briefing at the Uganda Media Centre on Wednesday, where the LOC unveiled plans to identify companies that will participate in future procurement opportunities for the championship.
Chairperson of the LOC Communications and Promotions Sub-Committee, Dr Dennis K. Mugimba, said the Request for Information (RFI) exercise is intended to establish a pool of qualified suppliers to support the planning and successful delivery of AFCON PAMOJA 2027.
“We invite all qualified, experienced and reputable potential suppliers to register their interest by undertaking the pre-qualification process. This is an opportunity for Ugandan businesses to become part of delivering one of the biggest sporting events ever hosted in our region,” Mugimba said.
The LOC said procurement opportunities will span a wide range of sectors, including hospitality, catering, transport and logistics, information and communication technology (ICT), media and communications, digital production, branding, medical services, safety and security, event management, consultancy, documentary production, fan zone management, souvenir production and office supplies.
According to the committee, eligible businesses must be legally registered in Uganda, comply with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) regulations, be tax compliant and demonstrate relevant experience supported by a strong performance record.
Mugimba said all procurement activities will be conducted in line with CAF Procurement Policy and Uganda’s obligations under the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Host Agreement.
“The procurement process will be conducted in accordance with the CAF Procurement Policy and Uganda’s obligations under the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Host Agreement,” he said.
The LOC also emphasised that the supplier registration process is free of charge and encouraged interested businesses to complete the online pre-qualification process before the application deadline.
Uganda will co-host the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 alongside Kenya and Tanzania, marking the first time East Africa will host Africa’s premier football tournament.
