Los Angeles, USA: Ugandan international Arthur Kaluma has earned a two-way NBA contract with the Los Angeles Lakers after an impressive showing during the NBA Summer League.
The Lakers confirmed the signing on Wednesday after waiving guard Peter Suder to create space on the roster.
Kaluma secured the deal after spending the 2025/26 season with the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League, where he averaged 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 40 regular-season and Tip-Off Tournament games.
The 25-year-old also shot 37.8 percent from three-point range and scored in double figures in 29 games, including seven outings of 20 or more points.
His contributions helped South Bay finish top of the Western Conference with a 26-10 record before advancing to the Western Conference Finals.
Kaluma further strengthened his credentials during the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 17.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in seven games while shooting 56 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc.
In Las Vegas, he averaged a team-high 18.6 points as the Lakers won all four of their pool matches to reach the semifinals.
His standout performance came against the Dallas Mavericks, where he exploded for 34 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including six three-pointers.
Kaluma enters his second professional season after going undrafted in 2025. Having spent the past year in the Lakers’ development system, he used the Summer League to demonstrate significant improvement and earn a promotion to the NBA roster on a two-way contract.
Before turning professional, Kaluma enjoyed a successful collegiate career across Creighton, Kansas State and Texas, making 134 appearances while averaging 12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
During his final season at Texas, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds, recording the most efficient shooting numbers of his college career.
Kaluma, who holds dual citizenship with Uganda and the United States, has represented the Uganda national basketball team in international competitions. He will wear jersey number 47 for the Los Angeles Lakers.
