Ismailia, Egypt — Kawempe Muslim Ladies assistant captain Agnes Nabukenya has urged her teammates to remain focused ahead of their second Group B match against Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Ugandan champions face Ampem Darkoa on Thursday, November 5, at 6:00 pm East African Time at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, seeking to build on their impressive opening victory over defending champions AS FAR Rabat.

Kawempe announced their arrival on the continental stage with a 3-2 comeback win over the Moroccan side on Monday, November 2, in their maiden appearance at the tournament. Nabukenya scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, while captain Shakirah Nyinagahirwa also found the net.

However, Nabukenya has cautioned that the Ghanaian opponents pose a difficult challenge, having started their campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Mali’s USFAS Bamako. “We are playing our next game, a very tricky game, against Ampem from Ghana. I would say they are the table leaders, with a very good advantage,” she said.

Despite acknowledging the threat, the forward expressed confidence in Kawempe’s readiness, urging her teammates to approach the encounter with determination and tactical discipline. “We are going in very ready. At least we need to take the day. It is a game where we need to switch to our position,” Nabukenya added.

Ampem Darkoa currently lead Group B on goal difference, with both the Ghanaian side and Kawempe having collected three points from their opening matches. Ampem scored five goals and conceded one, while Kawempe have scored three and conceded two.

The result against Ampem Darkoa could prove significant in determining the group standings and the teams’ chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Kawempe will play their final group match against USFAS Bamako on Sunday, November 8, while Ampem Darkoa are scheduled to face AS FAR Rabat on the same day.

The top two teams in each group of four qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for November 11, as the tournament runs from November 1 to 15 in Egypt.
