Masindi, Uganda — The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has broken ground for the construction of the Masindi Kitara Diocesan Guesthouse in a move aimed at strengthening the Diocese’s financial self-sustainability.
The project is intended to tap into the growing tourism sector and emerging oil-related developments in the Bunyoro region to generate revenue for the Diocese.
According to the Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese, Rt. Rev. Joshua Kugonza, the guesthouse project was initiated to take advantage of the economic opportunities emerging in the region and establish a sustainable source of income for the Diocese.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the Diocese’s efforts to strengthen its financial independence and support its activities through locally generated revenue.

Archbishop Kaziimba commended Bishop Kugonza for his visionary leadership and commitment to the development of the Diocese since his consecration and enthronement as the third Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese on August 3, 2025.
The guesthouse project reflects the Diocese’s efforts to explore income-generating ventures as part of its broader pursuit of financial sustainability.
