In Summary: KCB Bank Tanzania has partnered with PayPal to integrate global payment services into its mobile banking application, allowing customers to link accounts, receive international payments, make eligible online payments and withdraw PayPal balances in Tanzanian shillings.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — KCB Bank Tanzania has partnered with global digital payments company PayPal to integrate its services into the bank’s mobile application, giving customers a more convenient way to receive and manage international payments.

The integration, announced on November 6, 2026, allows customers to create or link PayPal accounts directly through the KCB Mobile App, receive payments from international clients, make eligible global payments and transfer PayPal balances into their KCB accounts in Tanzanian shillings.

The partnership is expected to benefit freelancers, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), tourism operators, content creators and other businesses engaged in cross-border transactions.

KCB Bank Tanzania said the integration combines the convenience of its digital banking platform with PayPal’s international payments network, making it easier for customers to participate in the growing digital economy.

The development comes as more Tanzanians explore opportunities to work with international clients, sell products and services to overseas customers and access digital services beyond their domestic markets.

For freelancers and online entrepreneurs, the ability to receive international payments and transfer funds into local bank accounts can simplify the management of earnings from cross-border business activities.

Speaking during the launch, Josina Njambi, Head of Digital Financial Services at KCB Bank Tanzania, described the partnership as an important milestone in the bank’s efforts to connect customers to the global digital economy.

“Our partnership with PayPal is an important milestone in our ambition to connect Tanzanians more seamlessly to the global digital economy. Today, customers are no longer limited by geography. They can work with clients in other countries, run businesses online, sell to international markets and access services from across the world. Our role as a bank is to make those financial connections simpler, safer and more accessible,” Njambi said.

She added that the integration complements the bank’s recently launched “Ina-Make Cents” campaign, which uses humour and relatable financial situations to encourage customers to reconsider their everyday money management habits and make smarter digital banking choices.

“With PayPal now integrated into the KCB Mobile App, we are making that smarter way more accessible,” she said.

Under the arrangement, customers will be able to create or link PayPal accounts through the KCB Mobile App, receive international payments from clients, make eligible payments wherever PayPal is accepted and withdraw available PayPal balances directly into their KCB accounts in Tanzanian shillings.

The bank said customers can also access PayPal and other digital banking services through the mobile application as part of the onboarding process.

The integration represents another development in the expansion of digital financial services across East Africa, where mobile banking and international payment platforms are increasingly important to businesses and individuals participating in cross-border commerce.

For KCB Tanzania, the partnership also provides an opportunity to strengthen its digital banking offering by connecting customers’ local financial activities with international payment services.
