Behold, a new dawn has broken upon our Pearl of Africa. On December 1, 2026, the Ruparelia Group will unveil to the world its latest jewel, Paradise Island Resort, a 19-acre private island retreat nestled on the serene waters of beautiful Lake Victoria.

In simple terms, this is big news for Uganda. For years, many Ugandans have looked beyond our borders, travelling to destinations such as Dubai, the Maldives and Zanzibar in search of exclusive holiday experiences. Now, we have another reason to look inward. Paradise is no longer something we must travel abroad to experience. A new island destination is taking shape right here at home.

Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of Lake Victoria, stepping onto your balcony and watching the endless blue waters stretch before you. Picture beautifully crafted cottages with thatched roofs, standing elegantly along the shoreline, blending with the natural beauty of the island.

It is luxury meeting nature. It is comfort embracing tranquillity. It is an invitation to slow down, reconnect and appreciate the extraordinary beauty that Uganda has to offer.

Paradise Island Resort is designed for the discerning traveller, in simple language, people who appreciate quality, comfort and memorable experiences. It offers an exciting prospect for families seeking a special holiday, couples looking for a romantic escape, business leaders searching for a peaceful retreat and Ugandans who want to enjoy a premium getaway without leaving their country.

This is precisely why the development deserves attention beyond the excitement surrounding its opening. Tourism is not merely about beautiful destinations. It is also about investment, employment, enterprise and the opportunity to showcase a country’s identity to the rest of the world.

When Ugandans choose to explore their own country, they contribute to the growth of domestic tourism. When international visitors come to experience destinations such as Paradise Island, they create opportunities for businesses, service providers and communities across the tourism value chain.

Chairman Sudhir Ruparelia has described the project as another milestone in the journey to elevate Uganda’s tourism potential. Indeed, the development reflects the role private investment can play in expanding the country’s hospitality offering and attracting visitors seeking distinctive experiences.

Uganda has never lacked natural beauty. We are blessed with magnificent lakes, breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, mountains and, above all, warm and hospitable people. What we must continue to do is invest in facilities and experiences that allow the world to appreciate these gifts.

Paradise Island Resort adds another dimension to that ambition. It presents Uganda with an opportunity to package the beauty of Lake Victoria into an exclusive hospitality experience that can appeal to both domestic and international travellers.

And why should Ugandans always have to cross borders to enjoy luxury? Why should we not take pride in destinations developed within our own country? Why should our families, professionals and business communities not have access to exceptional holiday experiences on the shores of one of Africa’s greatest lakes?

The opening of Paradise Island should therefore inspire us to appreciate what is possible when investment meets opportunity. It should also encourage more Ugandans to support local tourism, explore their country and recognise the economic value of the attractions that surround us.

For a family, it could mean creating memories that last a lifetime. For a couple, it could be the perfect romantic escape. For a business organisation, it could provide a refreshing environment for retreats and engagements. For the international visitor, it could offer a new reason to discover Uganda.

Let the message reach every village, every town and every city: Uganda has more to offer than we sometimes realise. We must learn to appreciate, promote and invest in our own attractions.

Paradise is here. It is on Lake Victoria. It is part of Uganda’s growing tourism story.

So, come home to paradise. Come with your family, your friends and your loved ones. Experience the beauty of Lake Victoria and celebrate a new addition to Uganda’s hospitality landscape.
