Bishop Stuart University bans students from wearing miniskirts, ‘ripped’ jeans and tattoos

MBARARA, UGANDA: Bishop Stuart University (BSU) located in Mbarara has issued a directive banning its male students from wearing sandals, ripped jeans trousers, shorts, braided/plaited hairstyles, tattoos, piercings and uncombed hair.

The university in the same directive issued on December 1, 2021 also banned female students from wearing miniskirts and short dresses, mini pants, ripped jeans/trousers and tattoos.

According to Bishop Stuart University’s Dean of Students, Rev. Francis Muhangi, effective December 2, 2021, students who wear anything contradicting the new dress code will be prohibited from accessing the university premises.

“This is to bring to your notice that effective December 2, 2021, no one will be allowed to access the university premises, lecture rooms, offices or chapel with that dress code,” Muhangi said in the notice.

The university is a private not for profit education institution established by the Church of Uganda.
