BUIKWE, UGANDA: The Police in Buikwe District have arrested a Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier on allegations of defiling and impregnating his 15-year-old biological daughter.
The suspect identified as Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Gabriel Okedi who is attached to Naminya Army Detach in Wakisi Division, Buikwe district was arrested on Friday, July 28, 2023, and is currently detained at Njeru Central Police Station
The Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Ms Hellen Butoto confirmed the report on Friday evening.
According to Ms Butoto, it is alleged that between February and July this year, the UPDF officer defiled his 15-year-old daughter countless times.
Police got to know about it when concerned authorities reported the matter. A statement obtained from the girl points at her father, Okedi as the man responsible for her pregnancy.
“We have already done a medical examination and it is true the girl is pregnant,” said Butoto adding that the soldier is facing charges of aggravated defilement.
