UPL: KCCA FC beat Vipers 3-1 to secure commanding victory in derby clash

Kampala, (UG): In a thrilling encounter at the StarTimes Premier League, KCCA FC emerged victorious on Friday with a 3-1 win over Vipers SC to claim their first win of the season after seven challenging matches.

The stadium roared as KCCA FC triumphed against their league rivals, asserting their dominance in the derby clash.

Goals from Muhammad Shaban (2) and Kizza Arafat Usama (1) were enough to seal a zealous 3-1 triumph for the home team.

Shaban, who formerly played at Vipers Shaban Muhammad showcased his prowess as his remarkable brace contributed significantly to KCCA FC’s commanding win with his first strike coming inside just the 2nd minute under the floodlights at Lugogo stadium.

The first half concluded with KCCA FC holding a 1-0 lead. The second half saw an outstanding performance by the home team, with Shaban Muhammad securing his second goal in the 58th minute. 

Kiiza Arafat Usama added to the celebration with a goal in the 90+6th minute, solidifying KCCA FC’s triumphant return to winning ways.

Despite Abubakar Lawal’s late goal for Vipers SC, it wasn’t enough to disrupt KCCA FC’s dominance in the derby. The victory marked KCCA FC’s first win of the StarTimes UPL season, while Vipers SC faced their initial loss.

In other matches on Friday, David Obua’s reign as URA FC Manager started with a 2-2 draw with Kitara FC while Bright Stars secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Busoga United. 

BUL FC are currently top of the StarTimes Premier League table with 18 points, followed by Kitara FC (16) and Vipers SC (14) in second and third respectively.

On the other hand, the win for KCCA FC lifts them to 14th with 4 points, while Wakiso Giants (4 points with a game less) and Arua Hill SC (1) trail at the bottom of the log in 15th and 16th positions.
