Receptionist held for aiding father to defile own daughter at Jinja Lodge

Jinja, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Jinja City have arrested the receptionist of a popular bar and lodge in Katwe zone, Bugembe division for reportedly renting out a room to a father who has been defiling his biological daughter on a number of occasions.

Delton Bar and Lodge according to police, is under the spotlight for allowing an environment where Paul Mwanje, a suspect facing aggravated defilement has purportedly been defiling his biological daughter.

The Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson, SP James Mubi identified the receptionist as Prossy Naziwa, 20, asserting that the facility proprietor Ronald Lyavala is on the run, while workers have since deserted the place after viral news of defilement at their workplace involving a father and his biological daughter.

“The owner of the facility, Ronald Lyavala is on the run, workers have deserted the place. Police visited the scene of crime and found a receptionist identified as Prossy Naziwa,20, who said she doesn’t know the whereabouts of his boss since the news of the father allegedly defiling his daughter from the said lodge became viral on social media,” SP Mubi said in a Monday police statement.

The receptionist according to SP James Mubi, has since revealed that the accused person has been frequenting the place and taking marijuana as well.

Mubi adds that she will be charged for not barring an act of defilement at the facility given her capacity as a receptionist, who would have denied access to illegal sex involving a minor.

“Prossy is being detained on charges of being an accessory before the commission of the crime coz in her capacity as a receptionist. She is supposed to know better, that minors are not allowed to engage in illegal sex from such places since sex involving persons below 18 years is null and void,” Mubi said.

Police have intensified the efforts to have the owner of Delton Bar and Lodge apprehended, and serve as an example to the rest of the proprietors and workers who are failing to protect children who are being sexually abused.

Background

Paul Mwanje, 35, a peasant, father of three and resident of Katende zone, Bugembe, northern division in Jinja city was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday, February 11, 2024, for allegedly defiling his biological daughter aged 14 between January and February 2024.

It is further alleged that Paul Mwanje has been buying chapati and sodas for her daughter whom he had turned as a wife leaving his other two young sons with the option of eating porridge without or with little sugar.

Reports from the locals in Katende zone indicate that Mwanje has been overprotective of the daughter and abusing any male person who tried to get close to the daughter adding that he would arrest any man who could attempt to love her.

This prompted neighbours to probe his behaviour and ask the girl confidentially until she disclosed everything the father had been doing to her. The neighbors immediately informed police and the suspect was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday.

DailyExpress has since established that the mother of the victim went to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last year for work and left the three children (a daughter and two sons) in the hands of their father, but he has instead turned against the daughter by defiling her seven times from the said lodge and two times at the paternal home in Katende zone, Bugembe.
