Soroti, (UG):- The Territorial Police in East Kyoga region and Soroti West Division Saturday confirmed that a decomposing body of Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim, an Egyptian national who went missing last week has been found and retrieved amidst murder suspicions.
Zinhom’s body according to police was found dumped in Awoja Swamp on Saturday morning after days of intensive hunt for his missing profile.
According to SP Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga police spokesperson, Zinhom’s body was recovered due to police diligence of investigation and intelligence.
Zinhom, a resident of Campswahili Cell A, Campswahili Ward in Soroti City West dealing in kitchenware accessories went missing last month on February 23, 2024, with information then suggesting that he had last been seen in the company of two friends.

In the aftermath of the deceased’s body recovery, police said it has so far arrested five suspects to help in investigations as they are connected with the alleged murder of the Egyptian nation.
Mr Ageca said the suspects who include one Egyptian and four Ugandans face possible murder charges if found guilty of killing the 32-year-old Zinhom. The case, he said is registered at Soroti CPS, vide CRB 48/2024.
“The body of the suspect has been found at Awoja swamp, within Soroti. since the body of the deceased has been found, the charge against the suspects will be changed to match the nature of the offence of murder vide CRB 48/2024 of Soroti West division policing jurisdiction,” Ageca stated, adding that the inquiry and consequent prosecution of the matter shall proceed as under the law.
