Five charged, remanded to Luzira over murder of Ndiga Clan head

Mengo, Kampala, (UG):- The Magistrate’s Court at Mwanga II in Mengo has charged and remanded five people to Luzira Prison until April 11 over the murder of Eng Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa, the head of Ndiga Clan in Buganda Kingdom.

The five include; Lujja Noah, 21, a resident of Kabanga Village in Mpigi, Nakiguli Harriet Nakiguli, 40, a resident of Nkere Zone in Kawempe, Nakabale Joseph, 47, of Gala Village in Mpigi, Mayanja Ezra, 44, of Kiganda Zone in Mpigi and Milly Naluwenda, 46, a clerk at Buganda Kingdom’s Kisekwa Court in Mengo and resident of Kitunzi Zone in Rubaga.

Eng Bbosa, 72, was shot dead in a gruesome incident in Lungujja, Rubaga Division – Kampala last month.

The group today appeared before Mwanga II Magistrate’s Court and was charged with murder, contrary to Sections 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act. They were however not allowed to take plea due to the nature of their offence, which is capita in nature, and can only be tried by the high court.

Prosecution led by Ms Caroline Mpumwire states that the group and others still at large on February 25, 2024, at Kikandwa, Lungujja, Rubaga Division in Kampala District with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Eng Daniel Bbosa, then head of the Ndiga Clan in the Buganda Kingdom.

Residents led by Mr Abdul Katabaazi pursued the assailants knocked them down and lynched one of them identified as Enock Sserunkuma while Noah Lujja, the second suspect was spared after being clobbered purposely to provide information on who hired them to end Bbosa’s life.

Lujja has been receiving treatment at Mulaga Hospital and has since provided information leading to the arrest of six other people including Naluwenda who was arrested on Thursday night. Sources say that Naluwenda was in constant contact with Sserunkuma and Noah Lujja for two days even in the hours when Bbosa was killed.

Mastermind suspect behind the murder

Preliminary police investigations have so far revealed that Lujja Bbosa Tabula who is currently on the run, worked alongside Ms Naluwenda a Buganda Kingdom’s Tradition Court clerk, to hire Bbosa’s killers on February 25 near his home at Kikandwa zone, Lungujja Parish, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

“The hunt for the suspect and mastermind of the alleged murder, a one Lujja Bbosa Tabula, who is on the run and still hiding, remains active and ongoing,” Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said on Monday while addressing the media at Naguru Police Headquarters in Kampala.
