UPL: Mbarara City thrash Gaddafi 5-0, NEC and Wakiso secure vital wins

Mbarara City Football Club Wednesday asserted their dominance with a stunning 5-0 victory over Gaddafi, while NEC FC and Wakiso Giants clinched crucial wins in the Uganda Premier League (UPL).

Mbarara City’s Commanding Performance:

Mbarara City exhibited their prowess at the Kakyeka Stadium, overwhelming Gaddafi with a flawless performance. Sadat Nsubuga’s early goal set the tempo, followed by Captain Joseph Akandwanaho’s clinical finish just before halftime.

Second-half substitutes Pius Wanji and Benson Muhindo further extended Mbarara’s lead, securing a convincing win that propelled them to 9th position in the league standings.

NEC FC’s Defensive Masterclass:

In a fiercely contested encounter against Maroons at the Omondi Stadium, NEC FC displayed defensive resilience en route to a 2-0 victory. Goals from Joseph Dhata and Allan Mugalu in the first half laid the foundation for NEC FC’s triumph.

Despite Maroons’ relentless efforts, NEC FC’s solid defence, led by Ibrahim Kiyemba, proved impenetrable, securing their third-place position on the league table.

Wakiso Giants’ Historic Away Triumph:

Wakiso Giants etched their name in history with a remarkable 3-2 victory over Express at the Wankulukuku Stadium. Kenneth Kimera, Samson Andrew Kigozi, and Shariph Kimbowa showcased their prowess with first-half goals, setting the stage for Wakiso Giants’ maiden away win against Express.

Despite a spirited comeback attempt from Express, Wakiso Giants held firm to claim a historic victory, climbing to 12th place in the league standings.

Implications for the UPL Table:

With these results, Mbarara City’s ascent to 9th place disrupts KCCA’s position, while NEC FC’s triumph solidifies their standing in 3rd place.

Wakiso Giants’ historic win propels them to 12th place, signalling their resurgence in the league.

As the UPL action intensifies, teams are vying for supremacy and battling for survival in a fiercely competitive league. With every match bringing new twists and turns, the race for the title and fight against relegation are reaching a fever pitch.
