Man captured on CCTV camera robbing woman in violent incident shot dead during arrest

Kampala, (UG):- The Uganda Police has opened up on the violent robbery incident in which two men were recently captured on CCTV camera stealing from a woman in Kampala saying one of the suspects tried to attack police officers during an operation to arrest his gang members.

In a video that went viral on social media last week, two gang members are seen cornering a woman near Public Service in Kampala and hitting her on the head before running away with her bag.

According to Police spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, the Police at Wandegeya last week responded to a street robbery at Chez traffic lights along Sir Apollo Kaggwa where they surrounded a group of thugs who were armed with pangas, knives and sharp objects.

The thugs were targeting pedestrians, bystanders and passengers on motorcycles whom they robbed of their belongings.

“The gang members were cornered and ordered to surrender. They refused and instead charged towards the officers with their pangas,” Enanga said.
