Unity, generosity mark Iftar food distribution at President’s office in Kampala

Kampala, (UG):- In an inspiring display of unity and compassion, Ambassador Hajj Abbey Walusimbi, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs on Tuesday extended Iftar donations to employees at the Office of the President.

The event, held ahead of Eid-ul-FITR Ramadan, emphasized the significance of fasting in the Islamic faith and the values of empathy and generosity.

Ambassador Walusimbi, alongside Mohammed Yousuf, Managing Director of Medvin Pharma LTD, distributed Iftar packages to both Muslims and Non-Muslims within the office premises.

Speaking at the occasion, Hajj Walusimbi highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan and the importance of compassion towards those in need.

“The act of fasting not only brings individuals closer to God but also fosters a sense of empathy and compassion for others,” stated Ambassador Walusimbi. “It is heartening to see the unity and generosity displayed by our diverse community during this sacred month.”

The distributed food packages included essential items such as meat, rice, sugar, dates, cooking oil, and other foodstuffs, aimed at supporting employees as they conclude the month of Ramadan.

Ms Zalwango Betty, the Senior Human Resource Manager in the president’s office, and Hajat Namirembe Hafsah expressed gratitude on behalf of the staff for the timely donations.

The event also saw the participation of esteemed speakers, including Mr Mohammed Yousuf Pasha, owner of Medvin Pharma Limited, who shared his journey from an immigrant worker to a successful entrepreneur in Uganda. Mr. Pasha’s inspiring story underscored the welcoming spirit and opportunities offered by the nation.

This year’s Iftar food distribution event reached out to 420 individuals, providing them with essential food items to aid in their Ramadan observance.

Ambassador Walusimbi emphasized the broader impact of such initiatives in fostering intercommunity harmony and understanding, showcasing Uganda’s commitment to inclusivity and solidarity.
