The Territorial Police at Nateete Division in Rubaga, a Kampala suburb have arrested a woman over murder after she allegedly stabbed to death the father of her child for reportedly failing to provide for her.
Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the suspect identified as Janat Natukunda stabbed Ronald Kintu, alias Rasta after a dispute arose between them over financial support for their child’s medical treatment.
In the altercation that ensued at Nateete Central B Zone, Mabiito, Rubaga Division, Owoyesigyire says Natukunda allegedly stabbed Kintu in the neck and chest with a knife in a 4 am Monday morning incident. The latter succumbed to injuries on the way to Mulago hospital.
“Despite immediate efforts to transport him to Mengo Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.
He added that police detectives retrieved a blood-stained knife from the scene as investigations continue into the gruesome murder act.
The 2023 Annual Police Crime Report indicated a total of 14,681 domestic violence cases reported countrywide, most of which were mainly linked to disputes over family property, failure to provide for families, drug and alcohol abuse, and infidelity, among others.
