ROAD TO 2026: John Fisher Nursing School boss eyes Kyoga North MP seat

Amolatar, (UG):- Political ground for Kyoga North Constituency has started to boil with those who have shown interest in contesting behaving like co-wives who don’t see each other’s eyes but instead talk about each other everywhere.

At a glance is Mr George Remba Okello, the director and proprietor of John Fisher Nursing School, located in Lira City East Division who is said to be doing all that it takes to unseat the current Member of Parliament in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

Okello, a teacher by profession report says is eying Kyoga North Constituency seat in the 12th Parliament and is currently much involved in consultation with the electorates.

The current area MP for Kyoga North is James Olobo of National Resistance Movement (NRM) party who in the 2021 MP general election polled 14,021 votes to win the other five in the race.

His unsuccessful competitors included; Nelson Ecam, an independent candidate, Mike Abwang Otim of Forum for Democratic Change, Patrick Ogwang of Uganda People’s Congress, Jasper Oling, an Independent candidate and Abel Tyan of National Unity Platform candidate. These, have all maintained that they are ready to give it a second trial in the 2026 general election.

Okello in an interview with DailyExpress said his areas of focus will include improving education, health, roads, electricity and water services and promises to give a results-based performance once elected to parliament.

This, he said, will foster development in Amolatar, Northern Uganda, Uganda and Africa as a whole.

“My self-motivation, loyalty, honesty, love for humanity, exposure, verst leadership experience, deep understanding of our society, patriotic and Pan-American drive, industrious talents,  lovely personality and generosity is a beacon of hope for generations I will lead,” said Remba Okello.
