Over 150 Kikuube expectant mothers receive free mosquito nets and Mama kits

Buhimba Town Council Woman Councillor, Ms Kabasindi together with the beneficiaries

Kikuube, (UG):- Think Humanity Uganda in conjunction with Ms Susan Kabasindi the Buhimba Town Council Woman Councilor have donated over 150 mosquito nets together with mama kits to expectant mothers in Kikuube District’s Buhimba Town Council.

Ms Kabasindi who presided over the handover function says the donation was done after a public outcry from several mothers in the 19 cells of Buhimba Town who claim to have limited access to such items when giving birth.

According to Kabasindi, during her thorough tour of Buhimba Health Center III the only government facility in the town Council and she found neither a maama kit nor a mosquito net in the facility store which prompted her to search for partners to calm the situation.

She later thanked Think Humanity Uganda for answering her call to save expectant mothers’ lives from malaria fever and also urged the beneficiaries to use the items effectively.

Pascal Mbajeste who represented Think Humanity Uganda said malaria fever poses a big risk to expectant mothers as it affects and may also affect the unborn babies inside their womb.

Mbajeste said since several villages in Buhimba Town Council lack health centres, the maama kits and mosquito nets will help these expectant mothers ease the work of the traditional birth attendants in time of giving birth.

He however cautioned them to maintain hygiene in their homes to prevent disease outbreaks.

Ms Annet Birungi one of the beneficiaries said as an expectant mother, the donation has eased access to the items since her husband is a peasant with limited funds to buy them.

Birungi thanked Think Humanity and Hon Kabasindi for the donation and added that the mosquito net will help her and her unborn baby from acquiring malaria from mosquito bites and the maama kit net will help her during birth time.
