Mbale, (UG):- Uganda Cranes midfielder Bright Anukani was the star man of the day as KCCA FC edged past Mbale Heroes to send the Kasasiro Boys summit of the Uganda Premier League table after matchday six.
The match, which unfolded on a rainy afternoon at Mbale Municipal Stadium, saw KCCA maintain their impressive form, with a fourth win in six games this season.
Anukani’s decisive strike in the first half proved to be the difference-maker, as KCCA displayed their defensive prowess throughout the match.
Remarkably, the Cityzens have also managed to keep five clean sheets in their six league matches, conceding only once.
With this victory, KCCA now sits at the top of the league table with 14 points, underlining their status as title contenders.
On the other hand, the loss leaves Mbale Heroes languishing near the bottom of the 16-team table, with just four points from their six outings.
The team’s struggle continues as they remain second from the bottom, facing an uphill battle in their next fixture against Police at Kavumba on Thursday, as KCCA host Maroons FC at Lugogo on the same day.
