Nebbi, (UG):- The Deputy Inspector General of Government Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe has warned Nebbi District civil servants against infighting in public institutions.
While addressing Nebbi District Political and technical staff on the responsibilities of the Inspectorate of Government at the office of the Resident District Commissioner Nebbi recently, Ms Muhairwe noted that infighting in public office is one of the biggest challenges that has hindered service delivery in public institutions.
She said as public service officers, there is need to always do the right thing and avoid victimizing each other through holding personal grudges and hate trades while in public offices but should serve beyond the heavenly master public offices they hold.
Ms Muhairwe who further stressed that constant infighting wastes time and resources, preventing effective service delivery, urged the civil servants to always do personal audits among each other by avoiding fire fighting among each other but reflecting on their lives and actions through changing their ways of work and do the right things during their time while in service.
The Deputy IGG expressed concern over the widespread infighting among public service officers by victimizing their colleagues in public institutions calling it unnecessary and harmful to public service delivery, revealing that it was time for public service personnel to do a reflection and act by changing their way of working by doing the right thing during their time in service and leave a legacy that will speak for each of us when we retire from public service.
Nebbi District LC5 Chairperson Urombi Emmanuel also during the meeting noted that although he cannot fully confirm the infighting among civil servants in the district, he emphasized that as leaders, they will always remind the civil servants to play their mandate, since engaging in infighting among each other will only distract them from their responsibilities of providing better service delivery.
He added that as Nebbi District, they expect all civil servants to be open to constructive criticism, regardless of their position affiliation in public offices, and should prioritize rational dialogue to resolve their differences.
The Chief Administration Officer Ajwang Dorothy who was out of the district during the meeting when contacted for comment by this reporter, her phone went unanswered.
