Man on the run after killing 20-year-old wife in a domestic brawl

Mayuge, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Mayuge District are on a serious manhunt for a murder suspect at large who went on the run after reportedly killing his 20-year-old wife following a domestic brawl that escalated into a physical confrontation.

Acting Busoga East Regional police spokesperson, SP Kafayo Micheal identified the suspect as one Yakubu, a resident of Bugota village, Bugota parish, Bukabooli Sub County in Mayuge District.

According to preliminary police findings, the victim, Jambo Loy, 20, who was a resident of the same area reportedly, suffered the rough hand of her husband on the fateful day after a disagreement resulting in escalation of a physical confrontation.

“It is alleged that this man developed a disagreement with his wife. She beat up the wife and kicked her in the abdomen before collapsing unconscious. When Yakubu saw the wife lying conscious, he escaped,” SP Kafayo said in a Thursday statement.

This incident of domestic brawl according to police occurred on Tuesday and Jambo was rushed to Kigandalo Health Center IV in Mayuge district where she was pronounced dead the following morning on Wednesday. However, the matter was reported to police on Thursday.

“The man abandoned his wife and ran away, and the neighbours rushed her to Kigandalo health centre IV where she spent the night but unfortunately died the following day on Wednesday,” Kafayo added.

The body was examined by police and a postmortem report was developed pending further investigation into the matter to ascertain what transpired.

By press time, police were yet to establish the whereabouts of the suspect.
