After Rwenzori, Museveni heads to Tooro on continued PDM tour

Kasese, Uganda: President Museveni yesterday wrapped up his three-day Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour of the Rwenzori sub-region with a public rally in Kasese Municipality, where he emphasized local ownership and strict community monitoring of the PDM funds.

The President, who has been traversing various districts in Rwenzori to assess the implementation of the government’s flagship wealth creation program, reiterated that the PDM funds belong to the people and must be guarded to ensure real economic transformation.

“I urged the people to take ownership of the PDM funds; this money belongs to them and should be closely monitored to ensure that it truly transforms their lives,” Museveni said in a statement shared on his official X handle on Wednesday evening.

He further revealed that the government will continue to inject more funding into the PDM initiative annually to support parish-level development and lift millions out of subsistence livelihoods.

The President is expected to continue the nationwide assessment in the Tooro sub-region today, as part of his commitment to ensure that the PDM is implemented effectively across the country.

The Parish Development Model, a national poverty eradication initiative, was launched as a bottom-up approach to development aimed at pushing resources to the grassroots, where at least 39% of households are still engaged in subsistence production.
