Bukedea, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, for her visionary leadership and contributions towards socio-economic transformation in Bukedea and the broader Teso sub-region.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving ceremony in Bukedea on Friday, June 27, President Museveni commended Among for her commitment to job creation, wealth generation, and improved service delivery.

“Today, I joined the leaders and people of Bukedea in thanksgiving for my daughter, the Rt. Hon. Anita Among. I commend her for the visionary leadership in transforming her people through job creation, wealth generation, and service delivery in the Teso sub-region,” Museveni wrote on his official X account.

The President shared how Among’s journey shifted in 2016 when she decided to engage with him after years in the opposition.

“She spent quite some time in FDC, but in 2016, she linked up with me, and I invited her to Kisozi, as I often do with many leaders. But only a few learn quickly, and Anita is one of them,” Museveni said.

According to Mr Museveni, their interactions at Kisozi inspired Among to invest heavily in commercial agriculture and education, resulting in tangible progress for her community.

“Anita asked me questions, I gave her some support, and now she is a big rancher. She owns schools and farms and now employs 52 people on the farms and 110 in the schools,” the President noted.

Museveni emphasized that Among’s example demonstrates the core pillars of wealth creation championed under his government.

“She is therefore doing three things: creating wealth, creating jobs, and providing a service. I thank her and wish all our people of Bukedea good luck!” he added.

Among, who was re-elected as Bukedea Woman MP and is seeking another term in 2026, has become an influential figure in Parliament and the NRM, and her investments in education and agriculture have been cited as a model of local development.
