Kampala, Uganda: The race for the National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League officially began on Wednesday, July 02, with famed Busoga political mobilizer, Ms Kyanika Rehema, duly nominated at the party’s Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala.

Dr. Tanga Odoi, the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, presided over the exercise on the afternoon, formally declaring her candidature in the hotly contested Women’s league race:

Kyanika’s nomination comes as the National Resistance Movement kick-started the high-stakes nomination process for all aspirants vying for positions on the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the leadership of Special Organs at the national level.

Hundreds of candidates thronged the Kyadondo NRM Electoral Commission offices on Wednesday, among whom included Dr Odongo Samuel Oledo (for 1st national vice chair), Eng. Jonard Asiimwe for CEC – Western Uganda, and Buyela Christopher (CEC – Eastern), signalling an intense internal competition ahead of the polls.

Kyanika Rehema’s entry into the contest is expected to inject fresh momentum into the NRM Women’s League race, setting the stage for a spirited campaign focused on mobilizing women across the country and reinforcing their role in the party’s structures.

The nomination exercise, DailyExpress understands, will climax on Saturday, July 5, with the official nomination of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the Party’s National Chairman and Presidential Flag Bearer.

The elections for the CEC are set to take place on August 22 during the National Delegates Conference at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
