Kampala, Uganda: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson for Hoima City, Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, today returned his nomination forms to contest for the influential position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda, pledging a new era of dynamic and accountable leadership.
Eng. Asiimwe was escorted by a spirited team of delegates and supporters from across the country as he submitted his forms on Wednesday, July 02, at the NRM Secretariat on Plot 13 Kyadondo Road.
Addressing journalists shortly after the handover, Asiimwe declared his campaign was anchored in inclusive growth, fairness, and practical solutions for Western Uganda.
“Western Uganda deserves active, effective, and forward-looking leadership at the highest level of the party. This is not a ceremonial seat, it’s a platform for advocacy, planning, and ensuring our region is not left behind in national development,” he said.
Distancing himself from what he called the politics of entitlement and complacency, Asiimwe challenged the culture of recycling the same leaders without tangible progress.
“Our people are informed, vibrant, and deserve better. The Western region is not for retirement politics — it is for dynamic service. I bring both experience and the energy to push for results,” he emphasized.

Asiimwe pledged to roll out an extensive grassroots campaign to engage youth, women, elders, and other stakeholders, promising to shape a representative agenda grounded in the real priorities of the region.
“Today is not just a formality, it is the start of a movement. I am going to engage every corner of the West because this is about building a region where every voice counts,” he added.
His entry into the race underscores a growing appetite within the ruling party for generational leadership, deeper accountability, and equitable development.
Concluding his remarks, Asiimwe said: “I’m not in this race for prestige, I’m in it to represent, to serve, and to restore confidence in the structures of our party. It’s time Western Uganda is given the serious attention it deserves.”
