Kiryandongo District: Incumbent MP Linos Ngompek once again defeated Taban Amin in Thursday’s NRM primaries for Kibanda North Constituency, reaffirming his dominance ahead of the 2026 polls.
Ngompek, who has maintained a firm grip on the constituency, was declared the winner after securing 18,636 votes, according to results announced by district NRM electoral officer Martin.
Amin, the proprietor of VCC FM in Kiryandongo, came a distant second with 5,611 votes. Other candidates included Baitera Maiteki (3,267 votes), Munu Emmanuel (1,576 votes), and Likambo Bahti Taylor (190 votes).
In Kibanda South Constituency, former legislator Lutanywa Jack Odur defeated the incumbent Jacob Karubanga Atenyi with 7,480 votes, reclaiming the NRM flag. Karubanga lagged with 4,342 votes. Other contenders were Bagonza Brian (1,223 votes), Mugisha Alex (1,129 votes), and Nayebare David Kamuntu (259 votes).
Meanwhile, in the Woman MP race, long-time aspirant Katusiime Jovia Mbabazi emerged victorious, polling 17,212 votes to secure the flag.
Katusiime defeated Adokorach Irene (9,219 votes), Atuhura Joseline (3,571 votes), Biraaro Joy Rutamweba (3,414 votes), Birungi Magret Katungi (2,572 votes), Kasangaki Alice (2,032 votes), and Atugonza Florence (1,493 votes).
The Kiryandongo primaries were marked by strong showings from incumbents and former MPs, leaving little room for fresh contenders in this cycle.
