Uganda’s Shida Leni stuns global rivals to win 400m race in Poland

Warsaw, Poland: Uganda’s top female sprinter, Shida Leni, stormed to victory, beating a strong field of international athletes in the women’s 400 metres on Wednesday night at the Maniak Memorial Meeting in Poland.

Leni, who holds Uganda’s national records in both the 400m and 200m, clocked 52.21 seconds to edge out Burkina Faso’s Sita Sibiri (52.40) and Poland’s Aleksandra Formella (52.42) in a tightly contested race.

The win marks a powerful return to international form for the 30-year-old Ugandan star, who showed tremendous poise and strength in the final 100 metres to seal her place atop the podium.
