Pallisa, Uganda: Masters of Ceremonies (MCs), media panelists, and DJs from North Bukedi subregion convened Tuesday at Kyoga Hotel in Pallisa District to deliberate on the implementation of the Presidential Empowerment Fund, a new initiative championed by President Yoweri Museveni to uplift creative and media practitioners across the country.

The meeting, chaired by Dominic Maloba, the Focal Person for MCs and Media Panelists in Bukedi Zone, underscored the importance of collective organization and accountability in accessing the revolving empowerment fund.

“There is a President who has thought about us,” Maloba told the gathering, emphasizing that the fund was meant to create lasting livelihoods, not for personal luxuries. He noted that beneficiaries would be required to operate transparently, as an online system would track fund utilization once logistical arrangements are finalized.

Maloba cautioned participants against misuse of the fund and urged them to ensure their associations are registered, certified, and possess operational bank accounts, prerequisites for accessing the facility. He also called on Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to fast-track registration processes and eliminate bureaucratic delays.

Isiko Micheal from Kibuku applauded the President for recognizing the contribution of MCs and media panelists to the creative economy. “We must be organized and ready to benefit from this opportunity,” he said.

Kalele Antony, a senior MC from Butebo, appealed to Maloba to engage RDCs further to quicken the process, while Siliki David Willy commended the communication efforts and urged unity among creatives.

Addressing the gathering, Pallisa RDC Dhikusoka Magidu reaffirmed that the empowerment fund aims to foster self-reliance. He urged participants to promote unity and continue supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government for sustained progress.

In a show of commitment, the Kibuku district MCs, media panelists, and DJs formed the Kibuku Professional MCs, Panelists, and DJs Association, electing Isiko Micheal as chairperson, Siliki David Willy as deputy chairperson, Bairange Tito as treasurer, Mutove John Baptist as secretary, and Kabirizi Ismail as secretary for publicity, alongside four additional committee members.

Looking ahead, Maloba announced that he will meet the Bukedi South group, covering Busia, Tororo, and Butalejja districts, tomorrow (Wednesday). The district executives are also expected to convene to form a regional executive committee, ensuring coordination and representation across the Bukedi region.

The meeting concluded with renewed optimism, marking a step forward in aligning Uganda’s creative sector with national empowerment and economic transformation efforts.
