Nebbi, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni has praised government’s progress in expanding education, healthcare, and electricity access in Nebbi District, describing it as evidence of the NRM’s steady development agenda.
Addressing a campaign rally attended by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, on Saturday, October 11, at Namrwodho Primary School grounds in Nebbi, the President said the transformation in West Nile was remarkable compared to Uganda’s post-independence years.
“In 1961, when I was at Ntare School, there were many boys from West Nile because there was not a single A-Level school in the entire Northern and Eastern Uganda,” Museveni said. “There were only six A-Level schools in Uganda. When I see eight A’Level schools in Nebbi alone, I am happy because I know where we came from and where we are heading.”
He revealed that of the district’s 16 sub-counties, 10 already have health centres, with government plans to establish similar facilities in the remaining six. “We are committed to ensuring that every sub-county has a health facility,” he emphasized.

The President further highlighted that West Nile is now fully connected to the national electricity grid, from Nebbi to Koboko, a milestone he said would transform livelihoods and boost business activity.
“On electricity, I am glad that finally West Nile is linked to the national grid all the way to Koboko,” Museveni said, urging residents to maintain their support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to sustain Uganda’s journey toward high middle-income status.
Museveni’s current campaign trail across Northern Uganda is focused on consolidating development gains and rallying grassroots support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
