Iganga, Uganda: The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Senior Presidential Advisor, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, Saturday reaffirmed her commitment to advancing girl-child education and community development during the 2nd Thanawi graduation ceremony of Ibun Baz Girls Secondary School in Busei, Iganga District.

In a keynote message delivered on her behalf by Wakiso District Khadhi Sheikh Erias Kigozi, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the central role of education, anchored in moral values, in transforming communities and building a sustainable future.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Qur’an and Science Are Not Parallel,” brought together religious leaders, education stakeholders, parents, and government officials, with 21 students graduating at Thanawi level.

Ms Namyalo commended the school administration, teachers, and parents for nurturing disciplined learners, noting that education should go beyond academics to include values, integrity, and purpose. “Education of the girl child, anchored in strong moral values and discipline, is fundamental to sustainable development,” she said.

She stressed that empowering girls through education remains one of the most effective pathways to national transformation, as educated women strengthen families and contribute meaningfully to society.

Citing Islamic teachings, she reminded graduates that knowledge is highly valued in Islam and urged them to become ambassadors of faith, character, and lifelong learning.

A major highlight of the event was Hajjat Namyalo’s financial contribution towards the construction of the Namyalo Hadijah Science Laboratory Block, a project aimed at strengthening practical science learning at the school.

The contribution was welcomed by school leaders, who described it as timely given the institution’s challenges, including lack of a fully equipped laboratory and limited access to science textbooks.

Sheikh Erias Kigozi also pledged support, contributing 30 sacks of cement towards the construction project. He further revealed that the ONC runs an Umrah initiative through which top-performing students may be considered for spiritual reward opportunities as motivation for academic excellence.

Leaders Applaud Namyalo’s Impact

The newly elected Iganga District LC5 Chairperson, Muhando Shabiru Isabirye of the Opposition National Unity Platform, commended Hajjat Namyalo for her empowerment initiatives, noting their impact across communities.

He also called for the expedited restoration of Busoga University to expand access to higher education in the region.
