Gov’t finally tails down and lifts ban on concerts and theatre shows under strict conditions

The government of Uganda has lifted a ban on entertainment concerts after almost 9 months.

The Arts & Culture sector in particular have been allowed to operate but with strict observance of the Ministry of Health COVID-19 guidelines & SOPs.

The shows will commence this Saturday 19th, December, 2020 and will be conducted in gazetted open places starting at 7am to 7pm.

This development comes at a time when Nigerian Artistes artistes Omah Lay and Tems where arrested and released on charges of staging a controversial music concert in Uganda over the weekend amid Covid-19 restrictions on the entertainment industry.

In March this year, President Yoweri Museveni suspended among others entertainment shows in a bid to control the spread of Covid-19.

The duo were charged with negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.
