Malawi Vs Uganda | Burkina Faso Vs South Sudan (7pm (EAT)
Uganda Cranes will seek to avoid a defeat in any result against Malawi today’s decisive Group B match in order to seal qualification for the 2022 Total African Cup of Nations tournament.
The Cranes who currently sit second on the table with eight points need at least a draw to return to AFCON finals for the third straight attempt.
The crucial match will be played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre at 6pm, 7pm in Ugandan time.
Cranes Interim Head Coach Abdallah Mubiru is optimistic that his side can avoid defeat and earn a ticket to Cameroon as he looks to take on a cautious selection of the starting XI.
Uganda comes into this game in a dip form having collected just one point from the last two Qualification games in the group, losing 1-0 to South Sudan in November 2020 and a goalless draw result with Burkina Faso last Wednesday.
The Cranes will be without forwards Patrick Kaddu and Fahad Bayo who are nursing injuries from the Burkina Faso game.
Defenders Timothy Awany and Elvis Bwomono will also be out of the game after withdrawing from the camp for personal reasons.
The reserve fixture in Namboole ended in 2-0 for the Cranes will look to build on this pedigree to stun hosts in their homeland.
Malawi on the hand, will seek a win at all costs if they are to seal qualification for the next years AFCON tournament which will be hosted in Cameroon.
