Good news as more than 60,000 Ugandans recover from Covid-19

Uganda has registered a significant progress in the fight against Covid-19 as recoveries reached 60,392 with 897 people are confirmed to have recovered in a 24-hour period according to tests done on July 8.

The Ministry of Health announced this in a recent update released on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

On the other hand, those who have so far died from the disease are 2,090. At least 28 of these were recorded in a 24-hour period.

According to the report, 1,058,084 people in Uganda have so far been vaccinated against the virus while the total tests conducted in the country for the COVID-19 disease now stands at 1,384,388.

The update, released on Saturday (July 10, 2021) by the Ministry of Health puts the total number of people that have been infected by the virus at 86,755 with 615 new cases returning positive out of that number, 5,318 tests were conducted on July 8, 2021.

The recent update means the positivity rate for the virus in Uganda stands at 11.6%, showing a drop from 23% from the previous month before the lockdown was enforced.

The breakdown of the new cases per district is, Kampala, 168; Soroti, 31; Gulu, 27; Jinja, 24; Moroto, 22; Mbarara, 21; Masaka, 19; Kapchorwa, 18; Luwero, 17; Mbale, 23; Kalungu, 15; Kaberamaido, 15; Abim, 13; Mayuge, 13; Kayunga, 13; Kalaki, 12 and Nabitaluk, 11.

Kyotera had 10; Ngora, 9; Kakumiro, 8; Wakiso, 7; Kamuli, 7; Kween, 7; Kagadi, 6; Mukono, 5; Kibuku, 5; Tororo, 6; Butambala, 5; Kabarole, 4; Namisindwa, 4; Mityana, 4; Bukwo, 4; Kaliro, 3; Pakwach, 3; Bududa, 3; Isingiro, 3; Rakai, 3; Nakapiripirit, 3; Kanungu, 3; Kumi, 3; and Amuru, 3.
