FULL LIST: OPM’s Guwatudde, Kibirige, 5 others fired in new PS reshuffles

President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday evening appointed new Permanent Secretaries for the various Ministries firing seven accounting officers in the new reshuffles announced.

The President transferred long-serving State House Comptroller Ms. Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye who was then poised for the Vice President role to become the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, replacing her with Ms. Jane Barekye.

Museveni also noted contracts of seven permanent Secretaries would not be renewed saying he retired them in “public interest”.

These include; Ms. Christine Guwatudde Kintu, (Office of Prime Minister), Ms. Jane Kibirige, (Clerk to Parliament), Dr. Benon Mutambi, (Ministry of Internal Affairs), David Ebong, Mr. Pius Wakabi (Agriculture Ministry), Ambassador Patrick Samuel Mugabwe Mugoya (Foreign Affairs Ministry) among others.

Ms. Guwatudde Kintu has been replaced with Mr. Keith Muhakanizi who has been PS, Ministry of Finance and Secretary to the Treasury.

Ms. Guwatudde was no stranger to charges of corruption and embezzlement of both government and donor funds.

She is still undergoing prosecution for raising food prices in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pius Wakabi who is under the spotlight over locusts missing cash has been dropped and replaced with Maj. Gen David Kyomukama Kasura.

Mugoya has been replaced with Vincent Bagiire who has been transferred from ICT Ministry.

Dr. Benon Mugisha Mutambi who has served as the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, since December 2016 has been with Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu.

Mr. Kivumbi Mohamed Lutaaya who is the PPS office of the Vice President has been sacked. Mr. Alex Kakooza who has PS Ministry of Education takes charge.

Ms. Jane Kibirige has been replaced with former Minister of Defence Adolf Mwesigye.
