HOIMA, UGANDA: The State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Jennifer Namuyangu has expressed concern over the reluctance of Government Officials to supervise government projects in Bunyoro region.

According to the Minister, it is the role of government workers to monitor and supervise all government projects in the district but their failure to do the work has resulted in poor services rendered by the contractors on government projects.

Namiyango made the remarks on Wednesday evening while launching the supervision of government projects under the office of the prime minister in Bunyoro Region. Among the projects to be supervised are roads, health facilities, schools among others.

“The big blame goes to government workers in the region who have lessened their efforts in the supervision of government projects hence leading to shoudy works by the contractors, our team visited the Ngobye and Wabiguga bridge recently constructed in Hoima District and we found out there was no consideration of the natural environment and even they have developed some cracks but all these mistakes too long to be realized due to lack of monitoring and supervision”. Namiyango said.

“Many people out there are not aware of these projects and they are not directed on how to benefit from them, on this note, therefore, am requesting all community and government leaders to sensitize the masses on the forthcoming government projects so that to make them understand on how to benefit from them”.
